Storytelling Festival at Kennedy Grove May 16 & 17, 2009
This best-kept secret must be told: storytelling is for adults. The Bay Area Storytelling Festival attracts families, actors, musicians, storytellers, and listeners from all over the Bay Area.
Five nationally-known tellers will delight you with folktales, movement, music and more. Master storyteller, Jay O’Callahan is known for his riveting solo performances; Antonio Rocha will entrance you with his movement and mime; Gayle Ross shares stories from her native Cherokee nation; Judith Black tantalizes audiences with her historical and original tales; Doug Elliott brings nature to life with his stories and harmonica riffs.
Also offered are stories by local bay area storytellers, music, workshops, books, CDs, food for sale, and a storytelling quilt raffle. The Kids Concert on May 17 from 1 to 2 pm offers stories for children 4 - 8, for $2 per person.
